Compensation: This position has a maximum hourly rate of $25.82 for Firefighter/Paramedic and $20.28 for Firefighter/EMT. A comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; participation in the Indiana Public Retirement System 1977 Police Officers’ & Firefighters’ Retirement Fund; paid time off; and vacation. Job Summary: The Town of Cedar Lake Fire Department serves and protects over 16,000 citizens within a rapidly growing community. The department provides emergency medical and fire response, plan reviews, building inspections, public education, community outreach, and more.
Minimum Requirements:
- Be currently enrolled in the 1977 Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Pension Fund
- State of Indiana / Nationally Accredited EMT-Basic (minimum)
- State of Indiana Firefighter II certification
- Valid State of Indiana Driver’s License
- High school diploma or equivalent

Job Summary:
Town of Cedar Lake Parks Department Recreation Aide assists in the planning, coordination, and scheduling of a variety of recreational programs and community events for all ages.

Compensation: This position has a maximum hourly rate of $30.85. The rate for this position will be commensurate with education and experience. Job Summary:
The Public Works Mechanic is responsible for mechanical equipment repair and maintenance work involving overhaul and repair of gasoline and diesel-powered automotive stock, heavy equipment, and related components.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license, with CDL endorsement or ability to obtain one within six months of hire
- Four (4) years work with heavy gasoline and diesel equipment at Journeyman level, or equivalent
- Successful completion of technical school training in gasoline and diesel engine repair may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience
Skills & Knowledge:
- Skill in the use of hand and machine tools, testing equipment, welders, torches, and other automotive equipment associate with diagnosis and repairs of fleet equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply Town policies and procedures
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising good judgement
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work as well as work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
